Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
When you use The Crucible, we collect the following information:
- Account information: Name, email address, and password (encrypted) when you create an account.
- Fitness data: Workout logs, body measurements, weight entries, progress photos, nutrition logs, and water intake that you voluntarily enter.
- Profile data: Age, height, gender, fitness goals, and activity level used to calculate your TDEE and personalize your experience.
- AI usage data: When you use AI features (photo food scanning, plan generation, InBody scanning), the images and prompts are sent to our AI provider for processing. We do not store the images after analysis.
- Usage data: Basic analytics about how you use the app to improve the experience.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalize your fitness tracking experience
- To calculate TDEE, calorie targets, and adaptive coaching recommendations
- To enable community features (friends, activity feed, cheers)
- To send you account-related emails (welcome email, password resets)
- To process AI-powered features (food photo analysis, plan generation, scan analysis)
- To improve our service and fix issues
3. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade encryption at rest and in transit. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We use row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Database and authentication
- Anthropic (Claude AI): AI-powered food photo analysis, plan generation, and scan reading
- USDA FoodData Central: Nutrition database for food search
- Vercel: Hosting and serverless functions
- Resend: Transactional emails (welcome email)
These services have their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data to any third party.
5. Community & Social Features
When you use community features, your name and activity summaries (e.g., "Completed Leg Day — 5 exercises") are visible to your accepted friends. Your detailed workout data, nutrition logs, and measurements are never shared with other users.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete all your data at any time from Settings > Danger Zone > Clear All Data. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Danger Zone > Delete Account.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data (export via Settings > Export Data)
- Correct your data (edit in Settings > Profile)
- Delete your data (Settings > Danger Zone)
- Request a copy of all data we hold about you
8. Children's Privacy
The Crucible is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification.
